DOCUMENTING LONDON  
(A Level 2 Photography Workshop) 

Using the City and the Museum’s vast archive of
photographs about and by Londoners for inspiration,
this weekend course, will give participants an in-depth
understanding of the principles of photography.  

This course is a mixture of workshop presentations
and practical sessions in which you will walk around
the City experimenting with techniques and camera
functions.

You will learn to see the world with different eyes and
make images by using Manual Exposures, Composition 
and the Elements of Design, Portrait Photography and
Flash creatively.

Participants will also get the chance to meet Mike
Seaborne, the Museum’s Senior Curator of Photographs,
who will be present for part of the course.


Your tutor is Luciana Franzolin, a Photojournalist,
Documentary Photographer and Director of Training at the
London School of Photography.  She has a Postgraduate
Diploma in Photographic Practice and Discourse.
Luciana uses fun and creativity as essential learning tools

This is an intermediate level course. Participants should
ideally have attended our beginners course or need to
have a full understanding of Manual Exposure Mode and
the topics covered in Level 1.

CAPTURING THE CITY  
(A Level 1 Photography Workshop for Total Beginners) 

Using the City and the Museum’s vast archive of
photographs for inspiration, this weekend course
focuses on how to get the best out of your camera,
including using it in advanced modes.

Your tutor is Luciana Franzolin MA, a photojournalist,
documentary photographer and Director of Training at
the London School of Photography.

The course is a mixture of workshop presentations
and practical sessions in which you will walk around
the City practicing techniques and camera functions,
as well as stimulating your creativity. Participants will
also get the chance to meet John Chase, MOL Senior
Photographer and learn about his role here and how
he has photographed the City over the last 20 years.

Participants will need to bring their own cameras, but
no previous experience is necessary. You will leave the
course feeling in control of your camera and its functions
and gain a good understanding of manual exposure mode.
